Former Apprentice star to work Otter campaign

A Boise entrepreneur best known for his role on the NBC reality show “The Apprentice” is joining Governor Butch Otter’s re-election campaign.

Troy McClain, who was fired by Donald Trump during the first season of “The Apprentice” in 2004, has been hired as a communications director for Otter’s campaign.

McClain is president and founder of The McClain Company, which is based in Eagle and charges between $4,500 and $8,500 for hourlong public speaking engagements.

The Idaho Statesman reports that McClain, who met Otter while working on a project for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, says he and the governor share common values.

Otter, a Republican, and Democrat Keith Allred will square off in November’s general election. (AP)
