Otter, Allred trade jabs during debate

Keith Allred

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Keith Allred went on the offensive during a gubernatorial debate in Idaho Falls, charging Republican Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter with catering to special interests and ignoring the concerns of everyday citizens.

Otter countered during Thursday’s exchange that Allred was himself a lobbyist, then urged potential voters to send him back to the Idaho Capitol in Boise for another four years in the “best job” he’s ever had.

Allred is a former Harvard University professor who founded the non-partisan government reform group The Common Interest, a role in which he registered as a lobbyist.
