The voter turnout for last week’s Washington Primary Election broke the 40 percent mark, exceeding the 38 percent turnout predicted by Secretary of State Sam Reed.
State elections officials say this year’s turnout breaks the state’s “modern” record for an even-numbered year in which there was not a presidential election.
As of Wednesday morning, the Primary turnout is up to 40.41 percent. Washington’s 2006 Primary had a 38.8 percent voter turnout.
