The state of Idaho only has about $31,000 left to fund rebates for buyers of more energy efficient appliances.
The Office of Energy Resources has managed the federally-funded rebate program since its inception earlier this year. Idaho residents who replace appliances – dishwashers, water heaters, dryers, and more – with newer appliances that are Energy Star certified and use less energy than older models can receive rebate money for up to five different appliance upgrades.
The program started with $1.2 million, and will end once the money is gone.
As of July 22nd, the Energy Resources department had issued 3,600 rebates. New clothes washers were the most popular item being purchased, followed by refrigerators and dishwashers. (IdahoReporter.com)
