Spokane men plead guilty to identity theft charges in Lewiston, Moscow cases

Two Spokane men have pleaded guilty to identity theft for using names of dead Washington residents to steal from Lewiston and Moscow stores.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Coeur d’Alene, 46-year-old Alphonso Guster and 25-year-old Vladimir Bibas admitted to taking the names of the deceased to create Washington driver’s licenses and fictitious checks in order to buy merchandise from big-box stores in the area, then returning the items for a cash refund.

Guster pleaded guilty to bank fraud and aggravated identity theft, while Bibas pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud, aggravated identity theft and five counts of possession with intent to use false identification documents.

Both men are set to be sentenced in November. (AP)
