Hanford workers ready to clean up hazardous site

Workers are starting to clean up what’s believed to be some of the most hazardous waste at the Hanford nuclear reservation.

The Tri-City Herald reports test pits have been dug in 12 trenches that were filled in the 1950s and ’60s in a 6-acre area called the 618-10 Burial Ground.

Washington Closure officials say the site is believed to hold high-level waste, but disposal records are incomplete.   Clean-up is scheduled for next year.  (AP)
