The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has named Lewis-Clark State Athletic Director Gary Picone as the 2009-2010 NAIA-Athletics Director Association Athletics Director of the Year.
Picone, who is in his second stint as the colleges AD, says the award represents a collective effort by everyone involved in athletics at LCSC.
Picone comments on award:
The college currently competes in 11 sports, with 10 programs qualifying a team or individuals to NAIA national tournaments over the past two years. Additionally, Picone has been the tournament director for the NAIA World Series, and the key negotiator for the series’ extended stay in Lewiston through 2012.
He will be formally recognized at the 2011 NAIA Awards Banquet held in Kansas City, Missouri as part of the NAIA Annual Convention April 15 -19.
