Firefighters and several farmers battled a fire that burned about 100 acres just north of Lapwai Road Monday afternoon.
Firefighters from Nez Perce County, Lapwai, and the Nez Perce Tribe, as well as a number of farmers tackled the blaze that erupted at about 1:20 p.m. Winds sent flames through the fields and into a canyon, but the fire was extinguished before it could be a threat to any buildings.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
