A Lapwai man accused of causing a fatal boat collision on the Snake River last month will stand trial Nov. 8.
Thursday in Asotin County Superior Court, 34-year-old Gordon Higheagle pleaded not guilty to charges of homicide by watercraft and four counts of reckless endangerment for driving the boat that hit another boat Aug. 14, killing 15-year-old Jonas Yochum, of Lewiston.
If convicted, Higheagle faces up to life in prison on the homicide by watercraft charge, while reckless endangerment carries a maximum penalty of one year in jail and a $5,000 fine on each count.
Higheagle remains in the Asotin County Jail on $500,000 bond.
