Missoula man drowns in Lochsa rafting accident

A Missoula man died in a rafting accident on the Lochsa River Wednesday.

According to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, 29-year-old Keegan Ginther was rafting with four friends when the boat overturned shortly before 4pm PDT near mile post 112 along U.S. Highway 12.

Ginther is the 3rd drowning victim in Idaho County in the past 7 weeks and the 2nd drowning victim in the past 31 days on the Lochsa.

Sun Prairie, Wisconsin resident Randy Eroen drown while Kayaking the Lochsa May 28th, and on May 11th, Jerry Nelson of Kamiah drown in Lolo Creek while trying to save his dog.
