Washington Gov. Chris Gregoire is taking some time away from the state for vacation.
A Gregoire spokesperson says that the governor is traveling to Idaho to spend the rest of this week at a family cabin. Officials are unsure how long Gregoire will be out of the state, but she usually gets daily briefings and is in regular contact with staff while away.
Lt. Gov. Brad Owen is available to address any issues that may arise while Gregoire is gone.
Gregoire typically tries to take some time off in August, when there is a lull of activity in Olympia. She announced two months ago that she will not seek re-election to a third term next year. (AP)
