Lewiston man identified as drowning victim in Snake River

Investigators have identified the body of a man that was found floating in the Snake River near Lewiston Wednesday morning.

The Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office says fingerprint analysis was used to confirm that the man was 23-year-old Brandon Hix, of Lewiston. His body was discovered by a fisherman near the Southway Boat Ramp just after 6 a.m.

Preliminary autopsy reports indicate the cause of death was drowning. The sheriff’s office is awaiting toxicology results from the autopsy to determine whether alcohol was a factor.

Authorities are as yet unsure how Hix ended up in the water.
