An Idaho man will serve life in prison for beating his girlfriend’s 8-year-old son to death in the summer of 2009.
38-year-old Daniel Ehrlick was sentenced in a packed Boise courtroom Friday for the first-degree murder of Robert Manwill.
The boy’s body was found in an irrigation canal about a week after his disappearance set off a massive search across Boise.
Ehrlick was convicted in June of beating Robert to death, then stuffing rocks in the boy’s pants pockets and dumping his body in the canal. He will not have the possibility of parole.
The boy’s mother, Melissa Jenkins, is expected to be sentenced later Friday for her role in the death. Jenkins pleaded guilty in January to aiding in her son’s death and faces up to 25 years in prison. (AP)
