Lewiston Rep. Nesset running for Idaho Senate in 2012

Jeff Nesset

Lewiston Republican state Rep. Jeff Nesset has announced that he intends to run for the Idaho Senate in 2012.

Nesset, who was first elected to the House in 2010, will seek the Senate seat previously held by Joe Stegner, who recently resigned to become the University of Idaho’s new lobbyist in Boise.

Nesset was among six candidates nominated by Republican precinct leaders from the 7th Legislative District last week to replace Stegner for the final year of his term.

The 15 precinct leaders submitted the names of Dan Johnson, Kristy Stedman and Thyra Stevenson to Gov. Butch Otter, who will appoint one of those three in the next week or two.
