Defense rests, closing arguments set for Thomas murder trial

Joe Thomas

Closing arguments are scheduled for Thursday morning in Lewiston’s 2nd District Court in the first-degree murder trial of Joseph Thomas.

Thomas is accused of strangling his ex-wife, 28-year-old Beth Irby-Thomas, to death at her Lewiston home in May.

The defense rested it’s case Wednesday, following less than two hours of testimony from a psychologist on the subject of autoerotic asphyxia and a family member who talked about the relationship between Irby-Thomas and the defendant.

Final jury instructions and closing arguments will be given Thursday morning, and the jury is expected to begin deliberations.
