LC women top Bears in conference home opener, men come up short

The Lewis-Clark State College women’s basketball team hit more than half its field goal attempts and cruised past Rocky Mountain College 81-63 at the Activity Center Thursday night.

Senior guard Jasmine Stohr led four players in double figures scoring with a game-high 17 points in the win. Senior post Alyssa Fierro added a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

Offensively, LC made 55.4 percent of its shots from the floor and outscored the Bears 42-18 in the paint. Defensively, the Warriors forced 17 turnovers and held Rocky to 43 percent from the field.

With the win the Warriors improve to 16-2 overall and 2-1 in Frontier Conference play. Rocky falls to 12-5 overall and 1-1 in league.

 

Meanwhile, the Warrior men came up just short falling 65-63.

Donte Archie

Junior guard Donte Archie led LC with 17 points and junior post P.J. Bolte added 15 points and a game-high 9 rebounds in defeat.

The Warriors couldn’t overcome a second half drought while the Bears shot 62 percent in the period.

With the loss, LC falls to 12-5 overall and drops to 1-2 in Frontier Conference play. Rocky Mountain improves to 8-9 overall and 1-1 in league play.

Up next, the Warriors host Carroll College Saturday night at the Activity Center.
