Stohr to miss 6 – 10 weeks with knee injury

Lewis-Clark State College women’s basketball player Jasmine Stohr will miss an estimated 6 – 10 weeks with a knee injury.

The senior from Yakima sprained the medial collateral ligament in her left knee about two minutes into the second half when she was fouled by a Rocky Mountain College defender on a fast-break play underneath the basket on Thursday.

An MRI taken Friday revealed a sprain which could sideline the reigning Frontier Conference MVP for the remainder of the regular season and will probably force the 6-foot guard to wear a knee brace for any games that she does play in. The injury won’t require surgery, but will take time and therapy to fully heal.

Because of the broad timeline its unclear how Stohr will fit into the team’s schedule down the stretch. If Stohr returns in six weeks, the optimistic timeline, she would be back just in time for the Frontier Conference Playoffs. If the more conservative estimates hold true, then she may return nearer to the start of the NAIA National Tournament on March 14th.

Stohr is currently ranked second in the NAIA nationally in total scoring, fourth in points per game, and 18th in total steals. The 6th-ranked Warriors will finish the regular season with just eight players on the active roster.
