Hit-and-run, DUI suspect under arrest

A Lewiston man was arrested on hit-and-run and drunken driving allegations Monday morning after police say he fled the scene of an injury car crash in the Lewiston Orchards.

According to Lewiston Police, 33-year-old James Wyatt is alleged to have driven a Ford pickup truck in the area of 14th Street and Burrell Avenue when his truck collided with a 1995 Toyota 4Runner at about 12:30 a.m..

Police say Wyatt then allegedly fled the scene in the pickup before three people were able to climb out of the 4Runner. Soon after, investigators made contact with Wyatt a few blocks away, where he was arrested and taken to the Nez Perce County Jail on suspicion of aggravated drunken driving and felony leaving the scene of an injury accident.

Two of the 4Runner passengers, 40-year-old John Ludwig of Seattle and 21-year-old Krystal Elizondo of Lewiston, were taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries following the crash. A third person, 37-year-old Daniel Ludwig of Lewiston was examined by medics at the scene but was not hospitalized.
