Dr. Michael Rooney has been named Chief Medical Officer at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.
Rooney, the first oncologist to open a practice in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley in 1984, will begin the newly formed position at St. Joe’s on April 1.
Rooney will continue his part-time medical oncology practice at the hospital.
After working for 25 years, Rooney decided to retire in January 2009, and taught an anatomy and physiology class at Lewis-Clark State College that spring semester. He also returned to his practice on a part-time basis and filled in when needed.
