Washington lawmakers ordered back to work on budget

Members of Washington’s House of Representatives have been ordered back to Olympia this week as the latest special session draws near its end.

Legislative leaders met again Saturday to try to hash out a state budget, and were to meet again Monday. Lawmakers are trying to close a $500 million budget gap, but have disagreed on how to do it.

The special session followed a regular 60-day session, although most lawmakers have stayed home during the latest legislative overtime.

The House is set to meet on Wednesday for caucus meetings and possible floor votes. Senators may do the same, but are also considering phone meetings.  (AP)
