Two Washington men accused of murdering a man who allegedly stole several firearms from them late last year made initial court appearances in Whitman County Superior Court in Colfax on Monday.
24-year-old Frank Lazcano, of Rosalia, and his 20-year-old brother, Daniel Lazcano, of Spokane, appeared before Superior Court Judge David Frazier. They are accused of shooting 23-year-old Marcus Schur, of Malden, Washington, in December and dumping his body in a rural creek. A fisherman discovered Schur’s bullet-riddled body last week in the creek, between Bonnie Lake and Rock Lake near Malden.
Frazier set $500,000 bail for each man, and appointed public defenders. They will be arraigned later this week.
The men were arrested on 2nd degree murder charges, but Whitman County Prosecutor Denis Tracy indicated he will probably file a first-degree murder charge with firearms enhancements for each man Wednesday.
