Computer security breach at LCSC Workforce Training Center

The Lewis-Clark State College Workforce Training Center recently experienced a computer security breach.

The center outsources its database management and on April 2, the company which manages the database reported unauthorized individuals gained access to the company’s server that contains the Training Center registration records.

The company learned about the security breach because hackers used the server as a relay for spam, which generated a great deal of network activity. The company quickly secured and locked down the server, but is not able to determine if the Training Center database was breached.

The database is completely separate from LCSC’s main registration system for academic credit, referred to as Warrior Web. The data in the that system is physically removed from the Training Center database, and was not affected by this incident.

Current and former Workforce Training students who may have been affected are being notified of the incident. Information in the database that may have been accessed did not include entire social security numbers or entire credit card numbers.  (LCSC)
