No charges to be filed in Lewiston car-pedestrian fatality

No charges will be filed in a single-vehicle accident that killed a pedestrian in North Lewiston last month.

77-year-old David Anderson, of Lewiston, was struck by a minivan driven by Fernwood woman on March 4 at the intersection of U.S. Highway 12/95 and 31st Street North.  Anderson died from injuries sustained in the collision.

The accident was investigated by the Lewiston Police Department’s Major Collision Investigation Team and taken to the Nez Perce County prosecutor and Lewiston city attorney for review. Both offices agreed there would be no charges filed.

Investigators determined the driver had no way of stopping the vehicle in time to prevent the accident.
