Lewis-Clark State College will honor its largest-ever graduating class during its commencement Friday night at the LCSC Activity Center.
A total of 775 degrees and certificates will be presented to 713 graduates this year – shattering last year’s record of 659 degrees and certificates and 596 total graduates.
The commencement program begins at 6pm PDT, with doors opening at 4pm. Seating is open, with the exception of a small area reserved for special guests. There is an area set up for wheelchairs next to the gymnasium floor.
Lewis-Clark State President Tony Fernandez will welcome special guests and deliver the commencement address.
Fernandez will present the President’s Medallion to Liz Chavez, for her leadership and contributions to LC and the community. Chavez is an LCSC Foundation Board Member, former Idaho state legislator, and retired teacher.
Dr. Harold Crook will receive the President’s Award for Excellence in Diversity and Cross-Cultural Understanding.
Emeritus status will be conferred on three retiring LC faculty members – Dr. Jannette Hill, Chair of the Education Division; Dr. Gwen Taylor, Professor of Literacy and Elementary Education; and Diana Ames, Lecturer in Social Sciences.
Following the commencement ceremony, the LCSC Alumni Association will hold a free reception for graduates, families, and alumni at the Student Union Building.
