Two-car accident on US12 sends three people to hospital

A two-car accident on U.S. Highway 12 near Arrow Bridge sent three people to the hospital on Sunday.

According to the Idaho State Police, a 1999 Buick sedan driven by 42-year-old Samuel Ellenwood, of Lapwai, was eastbound on the highway at about 6:30 p.m. when his car reportedly went onto the shoulder and he lost control. Ellenwood’s vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a 1992 Toyota Camry driven 21-year-old Kelly Brandt, of Moscow.

Ellenwood, Brandt and a passenger in her vehicle were taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.

Police said the accident closed both lanes of the highway for about an hour. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor.
