A May 30 preliminary hearing has been set for a Lewiston business owner accused of illegally selling synthetic marijuana at two of his stores.
24-year-old Sunair Iqbal made his initial appearance in Nez Perce County Magistrate Court this week on nine felony charges alleging he possessed and sold what is known as Spice at his two Bawa Smoke shops on Bryden Avenue and East Main Street.
Iqbal is charged with six counts of delivery of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and one count of racketeering related to a raid on the businesses in January.
Police reports indicate Spice was sold as incense or potpourri and was kept under a counter in the back of the stores.
