A western Washington librarian will take the helm of the Lewiston Library this summer.
Alexa Eccles was selected by the Lewiston Library Board to replace Dawn Wittman as the library’s director. Wittman, who has overseen the project to move the library from Thain Road to a new downtown location, is retiring May 31.
Eccles works as an outreach services manager at the Pierce County Library System in Tacoma.
When she starts at Lewiston on July 2, Eccles will oversee the remodel of the new library at 411 D Street in preparation of its opening in early 2013. Eccles will also work with the library board to develop library policies, monitor library services and develop and manage the department’s budget.
