Tennessee Wesleyan will play Rogers State for the national championship after eliminating Louisiana State University – Shreveport Thursday night at the Avista NAIA World Series.
Outfielder Jordan Guida tied a world series record with 3 homeruns as the Bulldogs out-slugged the top-seed Pilots 17-10 at Harris Field.
All told Guida had six runs batted in and scored four times. Jake Stone added three hits including a three-run homer and Taylor Oldham hit his 21st dinger of the season in the win.
On the mound, right-hander Zach Fleshman picked up the win over a 5-and-a-third inning start, allowing 7 runs – 4 earned on 9 hits to up his record to 7-1.
Greg Friesen homered for LSU-S and had three RBI in the loss.
The Pilots, who finish third, end their season with an impressive 54-6 record.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs improve to 52-12 and will meet Rogers State of Oklahoma in the winner-take-all national championship game Friday at 6:30pm PDT at Harris Field with live coverage on Talk Radio 950 KOZE-AM and online at www.koze-sports.com.
