One dead, man in custody following shooting, arson in Winchester

Federal authorities are investigating a shooting and fire in Winchester that has left one person dead and another in custody.

According to the FBI and the Nez Perce Tribe, police responded to a 911 call at just before 8 p.m. that shots were fired at a residence on Camas Street, and that the residence was on fire. One person was found shot dead in the home, and a suspect was taken into custody.

The suspect, whose name was not released, is being held on charges of murder, aggravated domestic battery, and aggravated arson, as well as weapons charges.

The incident remains under investigation.
