Authorities arrest Waha Lake stabbing suspect, girlfriend

Nez Perce County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Lewiston man suspected in a stabbing at Waha Lake last weekend.

An arrest warrant for aggravated battery had been issued for 22-year-old Matthew Maisano.  Maisano is believed to have stabbed another man during an argument at the lake on Saturday afternoon, and authorities had been searching for him since then.

According to the Sheriff’s office, Maisano was found at a Lewiston Orchards residence and was taken into custody without incident at about 10 a.m. Thursday morning.  Also in the home was Maisano’s girlfriend, 25-year-old Abigail Carter, who was arrested and charged with with accessory to aggravated battery due to her attempt to harbor Maisano.

Both Maisano and Carter were booked into the Nez Perce County Jail.
