An internet network transmission outage was reported at about 9:30 AM today affecting CentruyLink 911 Emergency, Local and Long Distance telephone services in North Central Idaho, impacting approximately 7,000 customers regionally.
Affected areas include Craigmont, Grangeville, Cottonwood, Kooskia, Kamiah and Nezperce.
Kerry Zimmer, Spokesperson for CenturyLink says technicians are working hard to restore service to all affected customers.

Outages are not uncommon, however the scale of this particular outage is rare.
Zimmer says it also serves as a reminder to the public to always call before digging in order to prevent similar accidents in the future.

911 calls in the Kooskia and Nezperce areas are being re-routed while the outage is being fixed. In the Kooskia area the emergency number to call is (208) 926-0172 and in the Nezperce area the emergency number is (208) 937-2447.
