A Lewiston man was arrested Tuesday morning after allegedly threatening a jogger with a knife on the levee pathway along Snake River Ave.
According to the Lewiston Police Department, 26-year-old Benjamin Kovach was charged with one felony count of aggravated assault after he was identified as the person who pulled the name on a male jogger at just before 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.
The jogger called police after Kovach confronted the jogger blocking his route along the pathway. Kovach refused to get out of the jogger’s way and pulled a folding-type knife from his pocket and held in a threatening manner towards the jogger. The jogger attempted to move down the hill from the levee pathway, and Kovach followed him. Eventually he went back to the levee pathway and started walking northbound.
Police arrived and, acting on a description from the jogger, found Kovach walking in the 300 block of Snake River Ave. Kovach was taken into custody and is being held in the Nez Perce County Jail.
