Lewiston man arrested for stealing construction supplies

A Lewiston man is under arrest for allegedly stealing construction supplies Wednesday morning.

Lewiston police officers observed a Ford Ranger that appeared to be dangerously overloaded with metal sewer pipe and fittings. After stopping the driver, the man told them he had taken the materials from an Albright Construction business site on Lapwai Road at about 3 a.m. and planned to sell it to a metal salvage business.

A representative of the construction company confirmed items were missing and estimated the value at $2,290.

18-year-old Ryan Rigney was arrested on a felony charge of grand theft, and a second felony charge of possession of stolen property plus misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were added.

Police are continuing to investigate other items believed to be missing from the site, including a backhoe bucket and an auger.
