Enrollment at Brigham Young University-Idaho continued its heady growth, with a 12 percent hike in students this fall compared to last year.
Fall semester enrollment totaled 16,773 local students at the Rexburg school – that’s equivalent to 14,300 students attending full time.
The school now hopes to reach an enrollment-cap goal of 15,000 full-time students by 2013 – two years earlier than originally planned.
The growth this year easily outpaces past expansion.
The university, which expanded to a four-year institution a decade ago, grew by nearly 7 percent between fall semester 2010 and 2011 and by nearly 6 percent between fall semester 2009 and 2010. (AP)
