Couple escape serious injuries in plane crash near St. Maries

A couple flying over northern Idaho escaped serious injury when their airplane made a crash landing Saturday near St. Maries.

According to Northwest Cable News, the unidentified couple were headed from Lewiston to Coeur d’Alene, when the Cessna C180′s engine failed. The report says the plane’s right wing struck a tree on the way down, causing it to flip over. It landed on its top on private property near Alder Creek Road, not far from St. Maries.

The woman in the plane was airlifted to a hospital as a precaution, but suffered only minor injuries. (KREM)

The crash remains under investigation.
