North Idaho plane crash survivors identified

The couple injured in a Saturday plane crash near St. Maries have been identified as 57-year-old Richard Whitehead, and 50-year-old Jennifer Whitehead of Coeur d’Alene.

According to the Benewah County Sheriff’s Office, the Whiteheads were flying home from Lewiston when their Cessna 180H began experiencing engine trouble. A wing clipped a tree as Richard Whitehead attempted to land, flipping the plane onto its top.

Richard Whitehead suffered minor injuries in the crash, and Jennifer Whitehead was airlifted to a hospital as a precaution, although her injuries also appeared to be minor.

The crash is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration. (AP)
