Warrior basketball: Women picked 2nd, Men 4th by conference coaches

The Lewis-Clark State College women’s basketball team has been picked to finish 2nd in the Frontier Conference pre-season coaches’ poll.

The 5-time defending conference tournament champion Warriors received 52 points in the voting, 12 behind conference favorite Westminster.

Carroll College was picked to finish 3rd, followed by Montana Western, Montana Tech, Montana State-Northern, Rocky Mountain College, the University of Great Falls and conference newcomer Dickinson State was picked to finish last.

Additionally, Lewis-Clark State sophomore point guard Brittaney Niebergall was named to the pre-season All-Conference team, the only underclassman selected. Niebergall was the Frontier Conference’s Freshman of the Year last season when she averaged 8.3 points per game and led the conference in steals with 96.

Meanwhile, the LC men’s team has been picked to finish 4th by the league coaches.

Westminster is the league favorite, followed by Montana State-Northern, Montana Western, LC, Carroll College, the University of Great Falls, Rocky Mountain College, Dickinson State and Montana Tech.

Warrior senior forward P.J. Bolte was selected to the pre-season All-Conference team.

LC is coming off a 16-13 season under 2nd year head coach Brandon Rinta.
