Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories says construction will begin in late November on Phase II of the company’s manufacturing facility in Lewiston.
SEL’s own in-house design and property management team will oversee the 140,000-square-foot expansion, which will double the size of the building.
Initial plans called for construction to begin in 2014, but officials say demand for SEL products worldwide bumped up the timeline.
The concrete tilt-up exterior walls and steel frame construction will extend from the southern end of the existing building, which was completed in January of this year.
More than 750 people will work at the location in manufacturing, engineering, research and development, and business support functions. (SEL)
