Oversized load makes its way to Montana along U.S. 12

An oversized load moving along U.S. Highway 12 crossed the Montana border from Idaho early Monday morning.

The load of water-purification equipment bound for Canada was barged from the Portland area to the Port of Wilma near Clarkston, where it began its land journey Oct. 22. The trip took longer than expected, thanks to delayed travel Friday evening and Saturday morning due to snow.

Idaho Transportation Department rules limit travel to between 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. when traffic is the lightest to facilitate the transport of the load, which takes up two lanes of the highway.
