A Nez Perce County Sheriff’s deputy has been arrested for allegedly driving under the influence for a second time in two years.
Deputy Jay Colvin was reportedly stopped by Idaho State Police Monday night in Lewiston and failed a field sobriety test and was booked into the Nez Perce County Jail. He has since been released.
Colvin was also arrested in 2011 by Lewiston police after he failed to use his headlights. Colvin refused a sobriety test and a breathalyzer and eventually pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DUI.
Colvin served 24 hours of community service in lieu of two days of jail time, was demoted, lost his position on the department’s boat patrol and was suspended for 10 days without pay.
Former Sheriff Dale Buttrey eventually reinstated Colvin to his marine duties.
