Grangeville high school shut down Thursday due to bomb threat

grangeville police chief badgeSchool was canceled Thursday at Grangeville High School due to a bomb threat.

According to the Grangeville Police Department, authorities were called in the early morning hours after a school employee found written material indicating that a bomb was on the school grounds.

The note was discovered prior to the start of the school day and no students were on campus at the time.

The school was closed for the day and the Nampa Police Department and United States Marshal’s Office utilized bomb-trained dogs to perform a sweep of the school.

After a search of both the interior and exterior, police did not find any kind of dangerous device on the premises.

School District officials are offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for the incident. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Grangeville Police Department at (208) 983-1351.

The school is scheduled to re-open Friday with extra police patrols.
