The Lewis-Clark State baseball team opens Region I Tournament play Thursday afternoon at Nat Bailey Stadium in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Warriors are 47-5 overall, are the region’s top seed and will play 4th seed Concordia, who enters the post season with a record of 16-25.

The double elimination format pits the top four teams from the regular season against each other for the regional championship and the right to host the West Coast Super Regional next week. The first pitch between the Warriors and Cavaliers is set for 2pm PDT with live coverage on Talk Radio 950 KOZE-AM and on-line at koze-sports.com.

In other opening round action, 2nd seed British Columbia meets the 3rd seed College of Idaho at 6pm PDT. The tournament runs through Saturday.

Lewis-Clark State’s Ikaika Lester has been named the Region I Baseball Player of the Week for his performance in three games against Oregon Tech last weekend. The versatile senior from Hawaii, went 4-for-9 in the three games with two home runs, six RBI and four runs scored.

Lester provided the late-game heroics in the first game of a double header Saturday hitting a walk-off home run that gave the Warriors a 2-1 win. He then hit a grand-slam home run in the second game on his way to a 3 for 3 day at the plate with three runs scored and 5 RBI.

Lester is now eligible for NAIA National Player of the Week honors, which will be announced on Wednesday.

The Lewis-Clark State men’s basketball program will hold its second annual free Pig Roast Sunday afternoon on the Activity Center patio adjacent to Harris Field in Lewiston, Idaho. Warrior men’s basketball coach Tim Walker says the barbecue-style event serves as a nice way to recognize the team and the fans for their support throughout the year.

The Lewis-Clark State baseball team closes out the home portion of the regular season schedule this weekend with a four-game Region I series against Oregon Tech. The 2nd ranked Warriors have stretched their winning streak to 15 games and are 44-4 overall. OIT is 21-27 overall, but has won 5 of its last 7 games and will end the year this weekend. Double-headers are scheduled for Saturday at 1pm PDT and Sunday at 11am at Harris Field in Lewiston, Idaho with live coverage on Talk Radio 950 KOZE-AM and on-line at koze-sports.com.

The Lewis-Clark State baseball team remains the nation’s 2nd ranked team in the latest NAIA Top-25 Poll. Despite seeing its winning streak end at 38 games, Lubbock Christian retained the poll’s top spot as the Chaps received 19 of the possible 20 first place votes. The Warriors picked up the other first place vote, but trail Lubbock in overall points by 19. LC has won 15 straight games and is 44-4 on the year. There were no changes in the poll’s top-5, as Lee of Tennessee is 3rd, followed by Oklahoma City and Azusa Pacific of California. The Warriors close out the home portion of the regular season schedule this weekend with a four-game Region I series against Oregon Tech. The Lewis-Clark State baseball team travels to Vancouver, B.C this weekend to face the University of British Columbia in a four-game Region I series. The 2nd ranked Warriors have won eleven straight games and stand at 40-4 on the year, while the Thunderbirds have won three of their last four and are 22-18 overall.

The series also carries some historic implications as LC head coach Ed Cheff is one win away from 1,600 for his career. Game times are set for 3pm PDT Friday with a double-header beginning at noon Saturday and a single game at noon Sunday.

All four games will be carried live from Nat Bailey Stadium on Talk Radio 950 KOZE-AM and on-line at koze-sports.com.

The Lewis-Clark State baseball team remains the nation’s 2nd ranked team in the latest NAIA Top-25 Poll. Lubbock Christian holds down the nation’s top ranking for the third consecutive week after receiving all 21 1st place votes. Lubbock is 43-1 overall and has won 36 consecutive games. The Warriors have won eleven in-a-row and are 40-4. There were no changes in this week’s top-10. Lee of Tennessee is third, with Oklahoma City and Azusa Pacific of California rounding out the top-5. Lewis-Clark State will travel to Vancouver, British Columbia this weekend for a three-game series with the University of British Columbia. Poor weather conditions have forced officials at Gonzaga University to postpone Wednesday night’s baseball game against Lewis-Clark State. The combination of rain showers throughout the morning and early afternoon and a 65 – 70% chance of more showers in the evening, coupled with the potential expense of a wasted trip, prompted both schools to reschedule the contest for Monday May 12th in Spokane, Washington at 6 p.m PDT.
