I just would like to know why this even was an issue. I do understand that they guy committed a heinous crime..but regardless of all that every person has a fifth amendment. Why are the prosecutors and judges even ordering a psychosexual evaluation at any stage in their proceedings? Even after sentencing you could be required to do one, refusal and/or dishonest answers results in violation of probation. In every case, if there are new crimes that are discovered in questioning, the polygrapher and therapist must report those findings to the prosecuting attorney. Allowing it also leaves room for abuse such as being ordered to polygraph in order to satisfy a parole officer. Polygraphs have been proven to be ineffective and susceptible to manipulation. They are also not admissible in court. Somebody please share.

My husband is a registered sex offender. 19 years ago when he was 20 yrs old he had a consensual sexual relationship with his 15 yr old girlfriend. They eventually fought and broke up. She then accused him of raping her. Threatened with a life sentence and being young and naive, he chose to plea bargain and served 3 years convicted of “rape of a child”.

When we got married in 1992 there was no sex offender registry in the state we lived in.

We have 3 children and do not allow them to have friends visit at our home. Only their cousins may come to play at our home. Today our children learned that we cannot decorate for Halloween or pass out candy to their friends. Our children are crushed.

I don’t expect anyone to care that our children are hurt by their father’s criminal record. But, I think that public paranoia on the subject of sex offenders is a little bit out of control. Not every registered sex offender is lying in wait for the neighborhood children. Our neighbors told their children that my husband is a murderer…those poor children where terrified to leave their home.
