Parents and community members are encouraged to attend a presentation at Lincoln Middle School in Clarkston, Washington Wednesday night to learn about threats that exist on the Internet and how to prevent children from being victims of cyber-bullying.
Part of Unicel’s National Stand Up! Program, featured speaker and Stand Up! Spokesperson Shanterra McBride says the program is designed to help educators and parents understand and prevent the growing problem of technology-related bullying.

McBride will make presentations to students throughout the day. An additional public presentation for parents and concerned members of the community will be conducted at 6:30pm PDT in the Lincoln Middle School gymnasium.
A 23-year-old Lewiston woman is in critical condition following a Wednesday morning shooting in Clarkston. Kylie Dahl was taken to St Joseph Regional Medical Center after Asotin County deputies found her with a gunshot wound in an apartment at 928 16th Street.
The renter of the apartment, Dane Sells, was arrested on an unrelated charge and is in custody at the Asotin County Jail. Asotin County authorities turned the investigation over to the Washington State Patrol.
The Clarkston Fire Department has determined that an early Sunday morning fire at Shirley’s Dance Studio originated in the business’ office but the cause has been undetermined. The blaze is estimated to have caused more than $50,000 in damage, destroying the business office and a storeroom. Clarkston Fire officials say the investigation is now closed.
The studio has temporarily moved classes to the Clarkston VFW at 829 15th Street.
Three members of the Waravay School of Karate in Clarkston, Washington will compete in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) National Championships this week in Albany, New York. Head Coach Brian Morrow says 10-year olds Josh Storrey and Jonathan Morrow, along with 12-year old Rachel Storrey are among some one thousand athletes gathered to contend for national titles.

Next month the Clarkston school will take six students to the Junior Olympics to be held in Reno, Nevada beginning July 19.
No charges were filed after a 4-month-old Lewiston boy was left unattended in a car in the Costco parking lot on Monday. The boy was uninjured. Clarkston Police say a female relative who was baby-sitting the infant told police she forgot about the child when she went into the store.
The child was found by a passerby. A Clarkston reserve officer got the baby out of the unlocked vehicle and took him inside the store.
Emergency personnel responded and the infant was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for evaluation after being left in the vehicle for about 14 minutes. He was released to his parents at the hospital.
The case was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review.
Euguene, Ore.-based retailer Bi-Mart plans to open its Clarkston store in early August.
The leased site at 511 Third Street most recently housed Liquidation World and will undergo a few renovations to accommodate Bi-Mart’s selection of electronics, housewares, toys, clothing, hardware, sporting goods, automotive accessories, beer, wine and food items.
Bi-Mart, with some 70 stores in Oregon, Washington and Idaho, also offers pharmacy and photo processing services. Customers pay a $5 fee for a lifetime membership.
